Directed by the same multi-award-winning director as the short film Take It Easy On Me, Ole A. Hagen, originally from Norway, Out of Control is an action and suspense-filled thrill ride of a short film that is sure to add itself to his list of film festival acclaimed filmography.
Hungarian actress Ágota Dunai as Anna, best known for her roles in K-12, Bújócska, and Elrabolva, drives us through an action-packed thriller as she tries to uncover the ploys against her, schemed by Eva (played by Dariia Kozakova) and Ethan (Lorre Michell - well-acclaimed for being an actor with great potential hailing straight from Sweden). All of the actors create this dynamic synergy that creates the perfect push and pull of tension onscreen. She and Jason (Eirik Sætre Hove) navigate both the digital world and the real world in a way that is thrill-inducing and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
One of the most captivating parts of this film is its cinematography and how it leans into the ebbs and flows of the narrative. With a number of dynamic shots bringing life into the already impactful action, you can’t help but keep your eyes glued to the screen as we get transported through the story world. This is also thanks to the editing which is creative and out of the ordinary, especially in its transitions from scene to scene.
Out of Control, also creates another level of immersion through its soundtrack and accompanying sound effects - especially adding to the intense nature of the action scenes.
The entire production crew played integral parts in creating such a polished final product, but a big round of applause has to be given to the man himself, the writer and director of the film.
As we mentioned before, director Ole A. Hagen is someone that you should keep an eye out for. He has an eye for a good story and creates a detailed to-the-tee narrative that grips you and locks you in for adventure. Whether he is directing romance or Lara Croft-esque action, he can’t go wrong. Watching any of his works will reassure you of his track record in the film festival circuit.
For instance, Take It Easy On Me has gotten 40+ awards and 20 selections in more than 20 countries all around the world. Some of these awards include Best International, Best Drama, Best Director/Screenplay, Best Edit, Best Actress, and honestly the list goes on and on. These are at film festivals including the “Blue Bird Film Festival”, “Kookai International Film Festival”, and the “Triloka International Filmfare Awards”, just to name a few.
