“7EVENTH 7IRKLE” is the eleventh short film of the SHUCKS Cinematic World saga, which blurs the lines of the worlds of music and film narrative. Read all about the “7EVENTH 7IRKLE” film premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood here.
Director and screenwriter Ty Brueilly’s latest film got its Hollywood premiere as continued momentum started with his 2023 Hollywood premiere of the hybrid short “A Night in Charlotte with Sweeney Ty”, followed by the long-awaited Hollywood premiere of “SHUCKS”. “7EVEN 7IRKLE” is one of the 5 experimental short films in the series where Ty Brueilly (also known by his rapper name Ty Bru) not only directed but also composed the music, adding to his discography and filmography of crossover hits.
This film holds a special place in the visionary’s heart as it has a special nod to one of his cherished childhood friends, who unfortunately passed away. Brueilly even edited him into the film posthumously.
“7EVEN 7IRKLE” features the dark and grimy grit of the other films in the series as it emphasizes otherworldly elements, made extra obvious by the production design, including the customary intricate mask visuals that we’ve become accustomed to watching in the films.

The film is rich with a cornucopia of visuals, particularly those depicting animals. From owls to horses to masked ceremonial gatherings that feel ritualistic, the imagery creates an atmosphere that is simultaneously dreamlike yet disturbing.
True to SHUCKS Cinematic World tradition, the movie periodically breaks from its predominantly monochrome aesthetic with bursts of vivid color. This technique serves to establish tone and generate the type of disorientation essential to the story, which draws from Dante's seventh circle of Hell. These classical allusions connect to modern themes like addiction and mourning as well.
It’s not only visually engaging, but also delivers a psychological and emotional narrative layered with ambiguity, that leaves the story up for interpretation. As per usual, Brueilly doesn’t just leave his audience with intriguing storytelling, but challenges them to dig deep inside themselves and use the film as a mirror that tells them about their own personal wounds.

Despite the consistent feel compared to the other works, this film does indeed feel more sentimental. That might also be because this project has been his biggest yet, with nearly 100 cast and crew members included in the mix.
“7EVEN 7IRKLE” will also run a film festival and have a hometown premiere in December of this year, which doubles as the 20th anniversary of Brueilly’s label Mightier Than The Sword Records.
