On Sept. 10, AxMxP (pronounced A-M-P) became the latest act to debut in the K-pop world with the release of their self-titled album.
The quartet - made up of lead singer Ha Yoo Joon, drummer Cru, guitarist Kim Shin, and bassist Ju Hwan - is FNC Entertainment’s newest group. The company is known for its support of rock music and has launched popular bands such as FT Island, CNBlue, and N.Flying. AxMxP is following in the footsteps of their seniors while also making their own mark in the industry.
The album “AxMxP” consists of 10 songs, with three of them being considered title tracks. “I Did It” is the first song being presented in the promotional cycle. Its music video was released on the same day as the album. The song is an electrifying blend of hip-hop and rock - something that is perhaps not too unfamiliar for fans of other FNC artists.
The other two title tracks are “Shocking Drama” and “Love Poem.” Meanwhile, the rest of the album is made up of seven exciting songs: “Calling All You,” “White T-shirt,” “Season of Tears,” “My Secret Story,” “Monday to Sunday,” “Headbang,” and “Buzzer Beater.”
AxMxP members are not involved much in the composition of their debut album with the exception of the track “Headbang,” which lists Ha Yoo Joon as a co-lyricist. As reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, when this topic was brought up at their debut showcase on Sept. 10, Kim Shin shared that the members have been “actively writing lyrics, composing and even trying out producing” and want to release self-written music in the future.
Although AxMxP are making a splash with their debut, this is not the first time fans have seen some of the members. Earlier this year, Ha Yoo Joon starred in the K-drama “Spring of Youth.” He played the role of Sa Gye, a popular singer who fell from grace and is now forced to attend a university. Cru and Kim Shin also had minor appearances as Sa Gye’s band members. Additionally, AxMxP recorded the song “See You Later” for the drama’s soundtrack.
