There Is Nothing Fleeting About Ergo, Bria’s Sensational New Single ‘Fairweather’ | Song Review

Meet the Artist: Ergo, Bria

Ergo, Bria is a multifaceted artist and musician hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, she is a singer-songwriter, instrumentalist (skilled in many instruments such as the guitar, piano, viola, and violin - to name a few), session musician, and producer.

Born Bria McCollum, Ergo, Bria is an artist with a vision as she aspires to break boundaries with her unique sound and musical style. Refusing to limit herself, she is a genre-bender creating a different arena of music. Ergo, Bria has a background in classical music which adds a new depth to her contemporary music.

She writes about relatable subject matter that many of us deal with on a daily basis. Her lyrics contain deep and thought-provoking motifs surrounding mental health, heartbreak, love, and even social commentary. Whilst she has an affinity for metaphoric lyric-writing, her lyrics are very literal and you can tell by her beautiful singing tone that she means every word.

With over 10,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, Ergo, Bria is gaining traction globally, especially in the United States.

Meet the Music

'Fairweather'

‘Fairweather’ was released on Friday, September 13th. The first adjective that pops into your mind immediately upon listening to the first chords of ‘Fairweather’ is haunting. We mean that in the best way possible. It’s the kind of song that lingers in your mind after the first listen to the point where you find yourself reaching for the replay button.

Whilst the song’s connotation surrounding the ‘fairweather’ concept makes you think of something fleeting and only there when it suits them (like the typical fairweather friend), this song (in itself) is anything but fleeting. Despite having a lot of echoes, hollow notes, and bellows, the song is full and holds you down for the entire duration of the listen. It sets itself up as a song you would listen to regardless of your mood, in good times and in bad. Something we can’t say about the supposed subject of the song, however: this creates an interesting contrast for the listener.

Our only gripe with the song is how short it is. Ergo, Bria makes you want to focus on every note and lyric in the song, leaving you wanting more by the time it has come to an end. That speaks volumes about her as an artist.

"There’s something so nostalgic about your music that I’m obsessed with"
