Meet the Artist: Pastor Weed
Pastor Weed is a multi-genre American artist hailing from Brooklyn, New York.
Pastor Weed is formerly known as Cee Life. This was his stage persona during his earlier hip-hop artist days. Following this musical venture, he delved into the world of reggae and soca music, paying homage to his Caribbean roots, given that his parents are from Trinidad. However, he couldn’t stay away from hip-hop for long.
The persona Pastor Weed was born with his musical re-debut, signifying a new start. You might be wondering where he got his stage name from, as well. WEED is an acronym that stands for ‘We Enlighten Every Day’ and symbolizes the way that his music makes you feel and the state of mind that it puts you in.
This is valid in many aspects when it comes to Pastor Weed as he is a man of many talents holding the titles of recording artist, author, ordained minister, and even radio host.
To especially commemorate going back to his rap origins, though, he has released his first hip-hop single under the name Pastor Weed called ‘The Forgotten’ and we have the honor of reviewing his hip-hop comeback single today.
Meet the Music
'The Forgotten'
‘The Forgotten’ was released on March 5th, 2025, and is about an ancient book of the forgotten lessons that were outlawed.
You can watch the official ‘The Forgotten’ music video below.
Before you can even take in and savor the music, one has to admit that the music video for ‘The Forgotten’ in itself captures your attention, too. Bringing a modern twist to ancient ways of old as a forgotten prophecy is relayed - you can’t help but be impressed by the scenes unfolding in front of you. Of course, this only becomes more impressive once the music starts.
The symbolism throughout the music video is tied in exceptionally well in the final scene where we have a nod to the Men In Black franchise as our memory is erased. It truly reflects modern society and how we live in oblivion until something becomes an issue, but after time or a wave of bigger issue, are forced to forget again - things like this are what makes the song so great. You have fun thinking up multiple profound meanings to the lyrics and imagery, such as this one, while you listen to Pastor Weed.
The song embodies the spirit of old school hip-hop which has become harder and harder to come across in the modern hip-hop landscape. True to Pastor Weed’s name, ‘The Forgotten’ plays out like a prophecy that delivers the truth whether people want to hear it or not. In fact, in the song’s music video, he is warned to stop preaching but cannot resist the urge as his rapping talent calls him to deliver powerful messages.
Pastor Weed boasts lyricism that is a rare gem to find among any 2025 hip-hop playlist these days and that lyricism is only emphasized by his magnetic flow. The way he plays with prose as he raps and dances between the rhythmical nodes of the beat, has a captivating quality that has you hanging onto the edge of every word.
