In all honesty, I almost dropped "My Demon" in the first couple of episodes. At first, the story felt uninteresting and quite frankly it seemed that we’d be watching only out of loyalty to Song Kang and Kim You Jung (two of the most beloved Hallyu actors out there), however, it did get better.
Their visual chemistry (because quite frankly they’re both stunning and the fashion in this drama was next level) largely kept your eyes glued to the screen as the more promising offer. Of course, no faults can be found in their acting – however reservations are still out about why they had Song Kang acting like Kim Min Gue in "Heavenly Idol".

The plot for "My Demon" was interesting with a mix of fantasy in the modern day and flashbacks to past eras. The cinematography and set design was stunning, too. Another thing that this drama can’t be faulted on is the visual effects. However, that brings us back to one thing… visuals.
Like we said earlier, the drama had a slow start then things got interesting after a couple of episodes and for the most part in the middle.
After they cruelly killed one of our favorite K-drama grannies Kim Hae Sook off the show – a shame because she really carried the story in the first couple of episodes – things do take a turn for the better in the narrative.

For instance, there were some standout scenes like the tango scene, which was one of the most creative fight scenes we’ve seen to date. Props need to be given to the writer and to the actors for pulling it off so well.

However, after Gu Won saves Do Do Hee from the fire, the story slowly slowly starts losing steam again. At this point, you might find yourself watching just to find out how things end and not necessarily out of anticipation.
Like most of the 2023 K-drama offerings, this drama wasn’t bad and the middle episodes were not boring but, as a whole, it’s nothing to write home about. It was on the better end of the spectrum of drama offerings for the year, though.
